Description
The Convent and Church of the Santissima Annunziata stand in the Moltedi area, outside Levanto’s historic centre. Sources indicate that the Observant Franciscan convent was founded in 1449 by Blessed Fra Battista Tagliacarne.
History and context
The complex was enlarged between the late 15th and early 16th centuries; after the collapse of the left nave in 1613, major works were carried out in 1615. Sources mention the cloister, the former refectory and artworks attributed to Pier Francesco Sacchi and Bernardo Strozzi.
