Via Guani and Via Garibaldi are important streets for understanding Levanto’s historic centre. The local “4 passi per Levanto” itinerary describes the descent from the Costa hill towards Via Guani, the old Via dei Forni, and then the walk among 18th-century palaces in Via Garibaldi.

Sources on the town walls recall that the defensive line descended towards the beginning of Via Guani and continued towards the shoreline along the area of today’s Via Dante and Via Garibaldi.
